I was in my 10th year of teaching in a Dual Language Special Education classroom when my two dogs, Beast and Nugget, started having issues due to their age. My husband and I decided that it would be best if I stayed home with them so they would receive the proper care and attention they deserved. I was able to spend two years at home with them until they crossed the rainbow bridge.
In November 2017, I decided to start dog sitting to help cope with the loss of my dogs. During this time, we met the current elder dogs we added to our family. We adopted Lucky, a 9-year-old cocker spaniel, from the Animal Humane Shelter in 2018. Lucky lost his hearing due to various infections in his ears and lost part of his paw from a baseball size tumor. We have worked with Lucky on sign language, and have seen him flourish! In January 2021, we rescued our other dog L.J., a 14-year-old Shih Tzu who is also deaf and has cancer. He started radiation and was in remission for 2 months, but ended up losing his battle as his cancer came back. We promised to give him the best life he deserves, and we did whatever it took to keep that promise.
I have decided to name my business after my biggest inspirations: Beast and Nugget. Beast & Nugget's Doggy Day Care will provide the same love and care I give my fur babies. Every dog is special to me, and I know that not all dogs are alike. I will do my best to help meet the needs of each dog, and ensure that they have a happy and safe place to stay. We are the only facility that offers overnight care, so your fur baby is never left alone. Thank you for you choosing to trust us with your fur babies!
